Ludwig Lindenmayer (14 November 1923 - 16 July 1944), died during the fighting in Normandy, aged 20. He remained in the vivid memory of his family.​

​​Ludwig Lindenmayer was born in Hatzfeld on 24 November 1923. He completed a commercial vocational training, but was drafted soon afterwards. Lindenmayer wore the lowest rank of a rifleman, and was killed on 16 July 1944 after the Allied landings in Normandy at Clair-Tison.

According to a former comrade, the cause of death was a shell splinter which had injured his knee. Lindenmayer died during the subsequent operation. According to his goddaughter's account, he remained vividly in the family's memory. Today he rests in the war cemetery in La Cambe. The final grave is located in block 27, row 6, grave 208.
