Liberation Route Europe in Germany

Germany holds a unique position in the history of the Second World War. Hitler played a key role in the decision to go to war and to exterminate the Jews but it is important to remember that he was supported by a majority of the German population. There were, however, also Germans that resisted against the regime and the German population itself also suffered greatly from the fighting and bombing campaigns. After the war Germany was split into two states until the reunification in 1990.
