Liberation Route Europe has received financial support from the European Union and the vfonds, the Dutch Foundation for Peace, Freedom and Veteran Support.
"Liberation Route Europe is an outstanding example of common European history becoming alive in the travel experiences of thousands of visitors: a way of reconciling citizens again 70 years after the D-Day. Transnational cooperation, a committed public-private partnership, an appealing storytelling are the main ingredients of what we expect will turn out being a successful Pan-European tourism product." Antonio Tajani, former Vice President of the European Commission
vfonds (Dutch Foundation for Peace, Freedom and Veteran Support)
The vfonds (Dutch Foundation for Peace, Freedom and Veteran Support) is dedicated to creating awareness and respect for uniformed personnel and veterans, who have become victims of war whilst serving the Netherlands, anywhere in the world. Moreover, the vfonds wants to keep the memory of war alive by commemorating the victims, and above all, by celebrating liberation, freedom and peace. In the interest of peace, vfonds supports a variety of projects that stimulate democracy, human rights and international justice, including the development of Liberation Route Europe.
