VVV Midden-Limburg, partner of Liberation Route Europe

www.limburg.nl

Since 2010, Limburg Province has been working in close collaboration with Liberation Route Europe. Together with a recently established working group under the leadership of Midden-Limburg Tourist Office (VVV Midden-Limburg), we are striving to actively promote and further develop the Limburg route.

Limburg Province
Limburg Province works closely with Liberation Route Limburg. At the start of 2016, an advisory group was set up to strengthen this partnership. The group comprises parties from across the region and aims to establish initiatives within Limburg Province that are associated with Liberation Route Europe. Most of the initiatives consist of commemorations and various other events that will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the liberation in 2019-2020.

The advisory group consists of:
Jessie Riechelman, Municipality of Venray
René Mahieu, Municipality of Roermond
Hans Sanders, Municipality of Eijsden-Margraten
Wim Seelen, Eyewitness Museum Beek
Harma Albering, Limburg Province
Giel Polman, VVV Midden-Limburg

VVV Midden-Limburg - Liberation Route Europe project leader for Limburg
Director of VVV Midden-Limburg Giel Polman was involved in setting up the Liberation Route in Gelderland right from the start, back in 2008. When he became director in 2010, it soon became apparent that Limburg fulfilled all the criteria set by the Liberation Route Foundation.

Partly as a result of this, VVV Midden-Limburg assumed leadership of the project in 2011 and, as the initiator, began to inspire other parties. Thanks to the partnership of Liberation Route Europe, V-Fonds, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Limburg Province, Stichting 1880, De Meinweg National Park, De Groote Peel National Park, VVV Midden-Limburg and various municipalities, an additional 23 audio spots have been created in Limburg to go with the six original audio spots. As a result, Limburg now has a total of 29 audio spots. VVV Midden-Limburg is the direct contact for the further development of audio spots in Limburg.

“On behalf of the Liberation Route Europe Foundation, VVV Midden-Limburg is the project lead in Limburg Province, and we are proud of this. After all, we must never forget…” says Director of VVV Midden-Limburg Giel Polman.
