The “Garden of Memories” Memorial is dedicated to the Holocaust victims of Pilsen and is part of the larger Old Synagogue complex.

The Old Synagogue of Pilsen was built between 1858 and 1859 and served the Jews of Pilsen until World War II. The “Garden of Memories” was erected on the former location of the Auxiliary Synagogue (“Jewish School” built in 1975) in 2002.

The memorial is composed of stones, each inscribed with the name and date of birth of one of the Holocaust victims from Pilsen. Of the 2,604 Jews deported from the Pilsen main station to Terezín in January 1942, only 204 survived to the end of the war.

Please note: The Old Synagogue and the Garden of Memories is not open during the Sabbath (i.e. on Saturdays).
