​​Karl Stein was born on 19 April 1922, and during the war was a Private in the Navy. It is know that he was last stationed in France, where he fell on 5 May 1942.

A field post letter to Stein, dated just over a month before his death, has been preserved. Today, Karl Stein rests in the war cemetery at La Cambe. The final grave location is in block 34, grave 145.​
